Kallxo.com
KALLXO.com, (SPEAK-UP.COM) started in 2012 as a citizen-driven anti-corruption platform part of the “Supporting Anti Corruption Efforts in Kosovo - SAEK” UNDP project funded by the Swiss Development Cooperation, SDC, Swedish International Development Aid, SIDA and other donors that followed for more than 10 years since.
It grew to become one of the most trusted media. A recent UBO Consulting public opinion survey, listed Kallxo.com as the second most credible source for fighting corruption for six times in a row. Kosovo Police was the first while the State Prosecutor and Anti-Corruption Agency remain behind Kallxo in public trust rating to fight corruption.
Internews Kosova and BIRN Kosovo co-founded KALLXO.com as a joint project. Initially, the platform investigated reports received exclusively from citizens, but it soon transformed into a trusted news portal in general. A large team of more than 70 journalists, editors, legal advisers, court monitors and producers produce news in Kallxo. Their journalism is subsidized by civil society activities such as think tank report writing, journalism training, media capacity building by partnering with many other NGOs to do this. KALLXO upholds the editorial policies of Internews Kosova and BIRN.
KALLXO.com is an all-inclusive platform, serving all ethnic communities in Kosovo including Albanians, Serbs, Bosniaks, Turks, Roma, Ashkali and Egyptians, among others. KALLXO.com serves as a home to Krypometër (Truth-o-meter), Kosovo’s fact-checking tool.
In 2016, KALLXO's Fact Checking tool, Krypometer, became Kosovo's first fact checker to become a member of the International Fact Checking Network, IFCN. In addition to being part of an international network of fact-checkers, KALLXO also subscribes to the Ethical Principles that need to be applied when facts are checked. IFCN conducts annual reviews of KALLXO content and renews fact checking license based on the results of this review. When renewing the license, IFCN concluded that "Public information about the organization, its employees and financial resources is accessible. The fact-checking methodology is explained, corrections are highlighted where such interventions are made in the text".
About 30 Kallxo production team members volunteered to film over 1000 e-lessons for primary school students during the first weeks of COVID in May 2020 when all schools were in a lock-down. These lessons were filmed in Albanian, Bosnian and Turkish languages and are still available on Kallxo and the Ministry of Education platform.
Internews Kosova became a third party fact checker for META in 2022, as part of an independent third-party fact-checkers platform to review and rate the accuracy of stories published on Facebook.
