Radio Peja

Radio Peja, the local radio station of Peja, commenced broadcasting in 1981. However, in 1991, during the mass firings of Albanian workers under the Milosevic regime, all Albanian staff were dismissed, leading to a rebranding of the radio in the Serbian language from 1991 to 1999.

Following this tense period, the radio resumed broadcasting in 1999. Presently, Radio Peja features a diverse range of content, including music, news, information, and entertaining shows. Notably, the radio broadcasts in Albanian, Turkish, and Bosnian languages. It was originally founded by the Municipal Assembly of Peja.

Six months after the liberation of Kosovo at the end of 1999, Radio Peja recommenced operations with assistance from foreign organisations. These organisations provided essential technical equipment and studio facilities to repair the damage caused during the war. The current management is overseen by Xhavit Husaj.

In 2016, Radio Peja obtained its licence from the Independent Media Commission, granted on behalf of the Media Center for Democracy, Tolerance, and Civil Society - PEJA in Peja.
