Radio KIM commenced its radio programming in December 2000, followed by the launch of web-site radiokim.net.
According to information available on their website, the establishment of this media received support from the governments of the United States of America, Great Britain, Canada, and Germany. Additional backing for the radio came from organizations such as the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), the Balkan Trust for Democracy (BTD), USAID, the Kosovo Fund for an Open Society (KFOS), the embassies of Norway, Finland, and Switzerland in Pristina, IREX, UNDP, UNFPA, among many others.
Notably, Radio KIM is an integral member and significant producer of programs on the Kosma network. Kosma, or the Media Association of Kosovo (www.kosmainfo.net), is an association of radio stations from diverse regions of Kosovo, collaborating to produce a joint informative program.\
